Most people think of the Community Foundation as encouraging philanthropy through monetary gifts, but there are many other ways to support the community. We also work hard to encourage people to support their community by giving of their time and talent.

The Youth Esteem Project (YES) is designed to give youth a stronger voice in Penticton, support them to live healthy, productive lives, and help to make Penticton a more youth-friendly city.
To get involved: Join the youth public awareness committee or partner with the YES project to offer free recreation activities for all youth in our community.
Vital Signs is a report which combines community collaboration with statistical analysis. The end result is a very readable, highly engaging report to the community which is widely distributed throughout the region. The Vital Signs report is led by the Community Leadership Team who play a critical role in ensuring the validity and usefulness of the Vital Signs report.
To get involved: Join our Community Leadership Team or if you are in a position to provide statistical or community focused data and/or photos that can used in the report.
Board of Directors
The Community Foundation is made up of 11 Board of Directors who help advise and guide the foundation on its activities.
To get involved: Our board is made up of community members who bring a passion for community leadership and a professional skill set. We periodically add board members who fit into a position on the board that is needed.
Neighbourhood Small Grants
Neighbourhood Small Grants helps connect and engage residents in their community by encouraging them to come up with their own ideas for how to strengthen their community.
To get involved: Plan a block party or event that gathers your neighbours together to get to know each other or sit on a committee that reviews and rates the neighbourhood small grant applications.
The Board of CFSOS appoints a Grants Committee comprised of 5 board members and 2 independent community members.
To get involved: The Grants committee has 2 spots available for interested community members to first review and rate the applications independently. Individual rankings are combined to create an aggregate ranking of all applicants.
The Board of CFSOS appoints a Bursary Committee comprised of 3 board members and 3 independent community members.
To get involved: The Bursary committee has 3 spots available for interested community members to first review and rate the applications independently. Individual rankings are combined to create an aggregate ranking of all applicants.
The Community Foundation appoints a Community Advisory Committee in each of the communities outside of Penticton to help advise the Foundation on regional development activities and local grant applications. These committees are made up of local citizens in the South Okanagan and Similkameen.
To get involved: The community advisory committees work towards building their local community fund and advise the foundation on local grant applications and fundraising activities.
100 Women Who Care
The 100 Women Who Care is a program where women gather together to hear from three local organizations. The women each donate $50 and the pooled funds are divided amongst each of the organizations.
To get involved: If you are passionate about your community and want to see bigger community impact through group giving- join the 100 Women and volunteer at their events or sit on the committee.
100 Men Who Care Penticton
The 100 Men Who Care Penticton where men gather together to hear from three local organization. The men each donate $100 and the pooled funds are divided amongst each of the organizations.
To get involved: If you are passionate about your community and want to see bigger community impact through group giving then join the 100 Men and volunteer at their events or sit on the committee.
