SUMMARY:Charity Check-In
DESCRIPTION:Thank you to all the dedicated charity leaders who joined us on Janaury 19th! \nWe’re hosting a facilitated session for the people who lead charities in the South Okanagan Similkameen. We hope this session will spark an ongoing conversation both within and outside the Foundation about our roles as a broker\, catalyst and facilitator in our sector. It’s not difficult to recognize that the landscape in which foundations/funders and charities operate is evolving. We know that we need to change and adapt\, along with the organizations we serve\, to ensure we are being the most effective we can be in supporting the charitable sector in the South Okanagan Similkameen.Instead of guessing what this looks like\, we want to hear from you: \n\nDo our current ways of doing business meet your needs?\nWhat additional tools could we bring to the table to support you?\nWhat could we be doing more/less of?\nWhat could we be doing differently?\nWhat needs do you have that you don’t look to us to support?\n\nFor a moment\, we want to shift the focus from How is the community doing? to How is your organization doing?  \nThis session also represents an opportunity to flip the mentality of “foundation of funder and charity as grantee” and begin to explore different possibilities for our relationship. \nIf your charity hasn’t received a grant from us\, you might think this session is not for you; however\, we can’t tell you how important your feedback and perspective is to our planning and we’d really like to see you on the 19th. \nWe’re excited about the prospect of gaining your insights\, and we look forward to engaging in conversation with you. We know that an afternoon of your time is significant\, and we promise to make the best use of it. \nOur sincere thanks to Okanagan College for hosting this event!

SUMMARY:2022 Legacy Club Event
DESCRIPTION:It is our pleasure to host this event to highlight our Legacy Club\, the Foundation’s way of recognizing donors who have made a gift to the Community Foundation as part of their estate plan. This event also recognizes dedicated donors who have also committed to making lasting impacts through establishing a personal or family endowment fund. \nThis year’s event will be held at the Leir House Cultural Centre on September 7th. \nAttendees will get a sneak peek of the Aging Well Exhibition which features artworks from a project which invites senior community members to create their own expression of what aging well means to them\, and to reflect on their past as well as their vision for the future. \nWe are also thrilled to have musicians from the Penticton Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts play for us at this event. \nLight refreshments and snacks to be provided. \nIf you are interested in learning more about the Legacy Club and the Foundation\, please contact Yuki Ihara\, Donor Services (yukiihara@cfso.net). \n  \n
