The Oliver Community Fund

Is for people who love Oliver and want to give back to their community where they’ve lived, raised their family, and played.  By combining our donations, we can provide lasting support for local community needs and priorities we care about. It’s a gift for the future.

The Oliver Community Fund is set up as on “open fund” so that anyone can make a contribution to give back to their community. The Oliver volunteer Advisory Committee brings local knowledge and expertise to address the community’s unique needs, and works actively to increase charitable giving.

The Oliver Community Fund – what does it do?

It’s a charitable endowment fund where your donation is permanently invested; income generated by the capital flows back to the community in the form of grants to eligible charities and activities.  It provides a sustainable source of funding for the community.

Today, the Fund has reached $19,500 in donations and has dispersed more than $5,000 to local organizations.

Recent recipients of the Oliver Community Fund include:

  • Oliver & District Heritage Society
  • South Okanagan Rehabilitation Centre for Owls
  • Tuc-el Nuit Elementary

The Need for a Fund in Oliver

Since 2013 the Community Foundation has granted over $40,000 to local organizations in the form of grants and scholarships in Oliver. However, the request from local organizations over the same period exceeded $170,000. To bridge the gap in funding, the Foundation accesses a regional pool of funds to supplement the amount of funding to our area, however, this cannot be relied upon every year.

Recipients from the Regional pool of funds included:

  • Oliver & District Heritage Society
  • Oliver /Osoyoos Search & Rescue
  • Okanagan Gleaners
  • Okanagan Similk Stewardship Society
  • MS Society of Okanagan
  • South Okanagan Rehabilitation Centre for Owls
  • Tuc-el Nuit Elementary

As you can see the need is there to grow the Oliver Community Fund!

Consider making a donation to Oliver Community Fund to show that you care about the future of the community.

The Oliver Community Fund was established in 2000 by a few local individuals and business who collectively gave $5,000 to establish the  Fund and was matched dollar-for-dollar by the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan | Similkameen.  The funds were endowed with the vision to create a sustainable source of funding for the community of Oliver.

Today the Fund sits at $19,500 and it continues to grow by the donations from citizens who have a vision to create a sustainable source of funding for the community the care deeply about.

Give where you live!
