The YES Project

2013 Governor General YES Project

Youth Engagement Strategy Project

We are proud to present the findings of this joint research project between the Community Foundation and the United Way.

On October 1, 2013 the report was unveiled to the public at a forum in the Lakeside Resort and Conference Centre with more than 100 people in attendance.  We were thrilled to host His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada as our guest and keynote speaker.

We were also very excited and humbled to welcome and hear from 17 young students who shared their wisdom during the public discussion.  We hope the students felt the forum offered them a welcoming and respectful environment to express their views.  The feedback received to date suggests that the Self Esteem Report adequately expresses the needs of Penticton youth, particularly those students who volunteered their thoughts during the consultation process.

We encourage you to download the report and study it carefully, all the while thinking of ways that you can contribute to making it’s recommendations a reality.

For more information about how you can help improve the lives of Penticton youth, please feel free to contact the Community Foundation office at 250-493-9311.
