Penticton’s Skaha Lake Pavilion was awash in beautiful music on August 13, 2025 as Yanti performed for the Picnic in the Park for Climate. The entire park right down to the beach was treated to her rousing songs. This outdoor event was a Community Foundation Neighbourhood Small Grants funded picnic hosted by Seniors for Climate South Okanagan, South Okanagan Council of Canadians, and First Things First Okanagan.

Volunteers put in many hours to create a happy, inclusive event for Penticton residents. About 40 people, seniors and others, came to enjoy games, sample delicious fare, and chat about how our community is affected in many ways by the change in climate. Topics covered were health impacts, financial stress, equity, social justice, and peace. Connect the Dots, a FrackFreeBC initiative, aims to show us how from rising costs to healthcare and climate crises, British Columbians are feeling the pressure. Connect the Dots is a community-powered event about finding hope in each other – and building real solutions through community. Thank you to Mayor Bloomfield for attending and sharing his concern for how the Penticton can meet the challenges of climate change.
