2021 Discretionary Granting
In 2021, the Community Foundation granted $342,090 to local charities. About half of that total was “pre-designated” by donors when they set up their endowment funds with us. For example, a donor might create an endowment fund that will always support the SPCA. The other half of the grant money is available for the Foundation to grant to local charities at it’s discretion. In almost all cases, however, the “discretionary funds” still have some conditions attached, where the donor may instruct the Foundation to select a charity that helps people with addictions (field of interest restriction) and only in Penticton (geographic restriction).
We received over 50 applications for funding this year for a total of more than $540,000 in requests. Below is a list of the charities that were successful in their funding requests.
The 2022 Discretionary Grants Cycle will open September of 2021.
