Over 9,000 people in our region are still looking for a primary care provider.

Our vision is for everyone to be able to access primary care services and get the care they need when they need it. By working together with local partners, we can make this vision a reality.

The SOS Community Primary Care Clinics Fund supports the development, advancement, and operations of community-based primary care services for patients and families across the South Okanagan Similkameen.

Your support helps drive meaningful initiatives, such as Community Walk-In Clinic pop-up clinics for sexual health and cancer screening, and plans for new community clinics in Summerland and Penticton.

With the South Okanagan Similkameen Healthcare Society’s successful opening of the Colleen Schneider Medical Centre, the Foundation has completed the support we initially set out to provide for that project. Read more about this project here.

The Fund remains active, and gifts are still welcomed from donors who wish to strengthen community-led primary care services. While the next priority project has not yet been selected, the Fund will continue to be used to support needs that align with our mission and benefit people across the South Okanagan Similkameen.

Donors are welcome to share their preferences for how their gifts may be used. However, the Foundation has the ultimate responsibility and discretion for ensuring all distributions are directed toward projects that align with our mission, the goals of this Fund, and meet community needs, in accordance with CRA guidelines.

Together, we can create a healthier, stronger community for everyone.
