As part of the City’s Skaha Park East Revitalization Plan, funds are being raised for the construction of a new community boathouse with the aim to continue to bring vitality and a unique culture to the Skaha Lake Park for decades to come.
The current boathouse is over 60 years old and is in dire need of replacement. A community boathouse will continue to provide access to Skaha Lake through a variety of paddle sports. Programs are available to citizens of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Several hundred locals utilize the boathouse throughout the year, including many underserved groups. Youth to seniors, cancer survivors, individuals with developmental delays, local businesses and non-profit organizations – a wide range of citizens have discovered the beauty of Skaha Park through recreational paddling.
In addition, many festivals and events are run out of the facility. This attracts thousands of people to our community, resulting in a significant economic impact for the local economy.
If the new boathouse project doesn’t move forward, your donations will still be used to benefit the Penticton community through the Penticton Community Fund.
