Janet Parker’s name is woven into the fabric of Penticton. She has spent a lifetime here, not only building a successful business, but also dedicating her time, energy, and resources to causes that matter. Her generosity has always been paired with something deeper: an understanding of what charities truly need to thrive.
That insight comes from years of hands-on experience. Janet has supported numerous local charities through donations and fundraising, and she has worked alongside them to understand their challenges. She served on our Grants Committee, reviewing applications and helping direct support where it mattered most. She also plays an active role with Discovery House, sitting on the board and leading many fundraising initiatives. These experiences have shaped her approach to giving: thoughtful, strategic, and rooted in care.
Now, Janet is taking that philosophy to the next level by creating the Janet Parker Trust with the Community Foundation. Part of her gift will be granted out immediately to address urgent needs in our community. The other portion is endowed, meaning it will be invested permanently, and the income generated each year will support causes Janet cares about for generations to come.
Earlier this year, Janet’s dedication was recognized nationally with the King Charles III Coronation Medal, a tribute to her outstanding service to the community. Her new fund is simply the next chapter in a lifetime of care for Penticton.
Janet’s commitment to community has been evident since the early days of my time with the Foundation, when she served as a dedicated volunteer on our Grants Committee,” said Aaron, McRann, CEO of the Community Foundation. “To see that relationship come full circle with the creation of the Janet Parker Trust is deeply meaningful. This fund reflects Janet’s vision for Penticton, meeting urgent needs today while ensuring lasting support for generations to come. We are honoured by the trust she has placed in us to carry forward her legacy.”
Born and raised in Penticton, Janet has shown time and again how much she cares for this community. Through the Janet Parker Trust, that care will continue, meeting immediate needs today and creating a lasting legacy for tomorrow.
