Neighbours on Lombardy Heights came together this summer to give their local water pump station a much-needed facelift. The mossy concrete building and weedy patch in the middle of the cul-de-sac are now painted, tidied up, and ready for new low-water plants to be added once the weather cools.
The project was truly a team effort – right down to choosing the paint colour together. An irrigation line was installed so the plants will stay happy, and one neighbour even volunteered to share their hose for watering.
After all the hard work, the group celebrated with a BBQ right there by the pump station. It turned out to be more than just a beautification project – several neighbours met each other for the first time and new connections were made.
Mike, the project lead shared: “Not only did we improve the neighbourhood, the BBQ allowed for the introduction of several neighbours to each other.”
